About hoya Macrophylla Snow Queen
Hoya Macrophylla Snow Queen is currently the largest and most powerful hoya in my collection, one of the few hoyas that I have not changed its growing position since the very beginning of its cultivation, it still grows in the kitchen on the east-facing windowsill. I don't even really know how to organize it further, because it seems that if I let it go, it will take over my entire kitchen and become a chef:). I received the hoya as a single-leaf cutting and planted it in a coconut fiber substrate on 02.02.2023. After only 3 weeks, it had sprouted small roots and I transplanted it into my improved indoor flower soil substrate because I was afraid of overwatering it (read about substrates for growing hoyas here). After less than 2 months, it already started growing 2 mustaches at once, but then only one developed and began to grow rapidly. Already in June I transplanted it into the largest plastic cup (read about pots for growing hoyas here) and attached a support circle, and this pot was successfully broken in August, because the hoya demanded new and larger living space:), I had to transplant it again. Already in the next summer, 2024, hoya Snow Queen had grown so much that the bamboo circle could not withstand the weight of the hoya and the hoya had to be transplanted again, this time into an even larger pot, again in the improved indoor flower substrate and already with two bamboo circles, fixed crosswise.
And she is like that today and I have absolutely no intention of giving her an even larger pot, because I still want to be the mistress of my own kitchen:). With all of the above, I wanted to show how very strong-growing and very easy to care for this hoya is. She forms her leaves like works of art - if the leaves have received enough light, then they acquire many pale gray splashes and look almost snowy. On the other hand, if the leaf has bloomed and grown in the shade of other leaves, then it is greener, with less splashes and usually the size of such a leaf is larger. And it absolutely does not require additional plant lamps, it modestly makes do with the little bit of sun and light it receives when growing on an east windowsill. The hoya receives watering when the substrate on the surface has dried out and absolutely does not survive if I forget about it for several days. However, I have not seen it bloom, this is also one of the reasons why it will not get a larger pot for a long time, because I really want to see and smell its charming flowers:)
Hoya Macrophylla Snow Queen is a very magnificent and very large hoya. If you want to learn what it means to grow hoyas, this is definitely a very good choice for your first hoya, it will grow easily, quickly and will be very grateful to you if you give it light during the active growing season and then you can water it a little more, but it will modestly wait for the end of winter and at this stage will also be undemanding in terms of watering.
